New Deacon Ordination – Perry Ivie

2016 FAITHFULNESS SUNDAY

On April 24 during our Faithfulness Sunday Morning Worship Service we honored Sandra Arend for her continued faithfulness and service to our Lord and to our church and community.  Sandra has served as a Sunday School Teacher for the Ruth Class for the past 5 years as well as on several church committees.   Music was uplifting with solos by Gary Leutzinger and Leon Morrison. Thanks to all who came and especially those who brought food.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR COOKING TEAM

Once again our Cooking Team competed at the Holy Smoke Cook-Off in Preston Georgia on April 2.  They did an awesome job and the food was spectacular.  Be sure to tell the guys how proud we are of them.

YOUTH MINISTRY IN ACTION

On Monday, January 19 our youth took a trip to the Children’s Hospital in Macon to spread a little cheer and the Love of Christ to the kids and also to give them a stuffed bear. We have a great bunch of kids! Thank you Matt and Mary for coming and being a part of our church family. We love you guys!!!!

BACKPACKS FOR APPALACHIA – Jefferson City, TN

Our mission team left on Saturday, December 6 taking 217 filled backpacks, 50 “Mom Bags” and 200 treat bags to Jefferson City, TN as part of the Backpacks for Appalachia Mission Project sponsored by the Georgia Baptist Convention.  On Monday, December 8 we worked with the Appalachian Ministry Outreach Center helping the staff with whatever they needed as they provided food, clothing and other services to the local community.  At 4:00PM we began handing out the backpacks and treat bags to local school kids.  We also gave to each mother that brought their child a bag filled with personal items including makeup, nail polish, hair products, etc.

Our team included John and Michelle Lockerman, Ottis and Michelle Beard and Pastor Bruce and Linda Howland.

FAITHFULNESS SUNDAY – September 7, 2014

We had an Awesome Service today as we honored our Lord for His continual faithfulness to us and we also recognized two of our most faithful servants – Mary Arflin and Jeanette Thompson.
Mrs. Jeanette has served in the Nursery as a Sunday School teacher for the past 48 years.
Mrs. Mary has served in the Nursery for over 30 years as a Sunday School teacher and also as the church Pianist for over 60 years.
Thank you Ladies for your love and faithfulness to our church and to our Lord.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY 2014 – Christmas Backpacks for Appalachia

On July 27th our church celebrated “Christmas in July” with Bill Barker –  NAMB Missionary and Director or Appalachian Regional Ministry.  Bill shared testimonies from last year’s partnership and the future plans of this unique ministry.  Following the service, backpacks were distributed and each person was given a special Christmas cookie and treat.

Our Annual Souper Bowl was held Wednesday, February 5, 2014 and was a huge success with over 50 entries in the three categories.

2013 HOMECOMING CELEBRATION

On October 6th, Rev. Clark Standard was the guest speaker as our church celebrated 123 years of serving our Lord and community.  Rev. Standard was the pastor of UFBC from 1972 to 1977 and now resides in Columbus, GA.   Following the worship service everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner in our fellowship hall.

2013 MISSION TRIP TO COVINGTON, KY

Our team left on Saturday, July 27th and returned on August 2nd.  From UFBC was Cape Jones, Mike Cook, Coy Goff, John Lockerman, Linda Howland and Pastor Bruce Howland along with the team from First Baptist Church of Spring Hill Tennessee.  We worked with Southside Baptist Church in making repairs and completing ongoing projects within the church and also the Moore Activity Center in helping with community events in the neighborhood.  Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray for that ministry in Kentucky.

SISTERHOOD JULY MISSION PROJECT

The ladies of UFBC sponsored a drive to collect various need items for the VA Hospital in Dublin, GA.  Items included personal care items, puzzle books, reading glasses and paperback books.   thank you to Michelle Lockerman for delivering these items to the hospital on Friday, August 2.

“Freedom Celebration” on Sunday, July 7, 2013

The American Flag was proudly carried and displayed by Navy Retired Officer Perry Ivie as the choir sang a Stars and Stripes Medley.  Pastor Bruce gave an inspiring message on “Liberty” honoring our country and our God.

Following the service everyone enjoyed dinner on the grounds in our fellowship hall.  After the meal the adults had a time of fellowship playing Bingo while the kids enjoyed playing on the waterslide and a game of volleyball.   Thank you to all who came and took part in our celebration.

Congratulations to Darrian Bailey on being chosen as one of the 105 Georgia High School students to participate in the 2012 Washington Youth Tour this past June.  Darrien is the daughter of Van and Devon Bailey and the great granddaughter of Mrs. Audrey Ransom.

SISTERHOOD “BLANKETS FOR CHRISTMAS” PROJECT

The ladies have begun making blankets for the 50 Byromville Nursing Home residents for Christmas.  To date they have 32 blankets made.

Haley was baptized Sunday, July 29th along with Taylor Shugart, daughter of Don and Tammy Shugart.

Haley and Taylor accepted Christ as personal savior during the recent youth trip to Super WOW at Jekyll Island with Ottis and Michelle Beard.

Be sure to congratulate these two young ladies.

Saturday, July 28th several men of the Brotherhood built a ramp at the home of Don and Martha Bashaw.

2012 Virginia Missions Trip

We had the privilege of partnering with Pinecrest Baptist Church, Smyrna Baptist Church and Ebenezer Baptist Church to conduct Vacation Bible School at both Bluewell Baptist Church in Bluewell, Virginia and Glen Lyn Baptist Church in Glen Lyn, West Virginia.  The 65-member team worked not only supplying Vacation Bible School for these two churches, but we also had two members of our team roof a  home in Glen Lyn for a widow in need.
